from the IU Historical Performance Institute
When: Friday, March 4, 2016, at 7:00pm
Where: Monroe County Courthouse Rotunda
A Free offering to the Bloomington Community!
In celebration of International Early Music Month, three organizations – Bloomington Early Music, Alchymy Viols, and IU’s Historical Performance Institute – are pleased to announce a free public concert of 17th-Century works by composers that include Heinrich Schutz and Michael Praetorius in Bloomington’s historic County Courthouse rotunda, Friday March 4th at 7:00 p.m.
In the midst of the First Friday Gallery Walk downtown, the hope is that many early music first-timers will take the opportunity to enjoy an evening of highly evocative music in a beautiful acoustic, with some of the finest performers in the region. No tickets are required.
Members of Ensemble Alchymy for the concert include viola da gamba performers Larry Lipnik, Annalisa Pappano, Erica Rubis, and Philip Spray, a sackbut ensemble from the HPI led by faculty performer Linda Pearse. A vocal ensemble, led by HPI coordinator Dana Marsh, includes David Rugger, Andy Rader, and others.
Funding for the concert is provided by The Allen Whitehill Clowes Charitable Foundation, the Cristel DeHaan Family Foundation, and Bloomington Early Music, with in-kind contributions from the IU Jacobs School of Music’s Historical Performance Institute.
