Dancing to J.S. Bach

French dance and J.S. Bach's Solo Suites

Baroque dancer Paige Whitley-Bauguess is joined by violinist Julie Andrijeski and cellist Shelly Taylor to demonstrate the French Baroque dances and how they relate to J.S. Bach's solo suites.

Paige will first dance several common dances with accompanied by Julie and Shelly. Julie and Shelly will then play assorted movements from J.S. Bach's solo suites and Paige will accompany the soloist to illustrate how Bach bases the suites on the dances and how he diverges from them.

This event will be of special interest to young string players and anyone that plays Baroque music involving the French dances, but the general public will be sure to find it fascinating.
