BLEMF is dedicated to enriching the lives of future audiences and performers by offering educational events both during the year and during the festival.
* A session about early forms of reed instruments was presented to four Bloomington middle schools and two high schools, presented by Sung Lee and Kelsey Schilling.
* A session about the ancestor of the modern trombone (the sackbut) was offered to four Bloomington middle schools and two high schools, presented by Linda Pearse.

* An art project with school age children brought together the MCCSC, the public library and BLEMF. Under the guidance of their art teachers, students listened to a piece of music from the baroque period that was recorded by the Bloomington ensemble, L'AURA. They responded to the music through a visual art medium; a selection of which were on display in the public library atrium during the 2009 Festival.
